Bob started out like most of us from his generation, chasing the materialistic dream. He ran construction companies, designed and manufactured ultralights, was a hang gliding instructor, ran, and later owned, hang gliding parks, and is an award-winning hang gliding champion and ski/snowboard instructor. Somewhere in the 1990s, Bob moved into a 190-square-foot off the grid cabin. Now he thrives in the forests of southern Vermont as he did as child, when the forest first became his friend. Living off-grid with no running water over the past several decades has given Bob the time to pursue all his passions from building all natural, chemical-free musical instruments and bows and arrows, to cartooning, writing, and often, just being still.
A lifelong wordsmith, Bob is the author of classic books for children's books, political satire, the "Shmee" of nature, short stories, and poetry. Check out the Books page for information on what he's published so far!
Bob traveled the country on the competition hang gliding circuit, taking second place at the 1984 Hang Gliding Nationals and the 1985 World International held in British Columbia. Check out the Hang Gliding and Ultralights page for newspaper articles and a photo album.
